The growth and capabilities of the digital space have brought many benefits to societies. Individuals and businesses use the digital space for easy communication, and governments use it to improve the performance of their critical infrastructures. Critical infrastructures provide vital services such as health, safety, and security needed for the efficient functioning of societies. However, threats and vulnerabilities in the digital space have facilitated technological attacks such as cybercrime, and while violating the security of critical infrastructures of countries, they have also become a cause for global concern. Therefore, cybercrime is committed to threaten or cause physical harm to gain political or ideological power through threat or intimidation. Data theft, data manipulation, and disruption of essential services can fall into this category. With the criticality of critical infrastructures and the reduction of entry barriers for destructive agents, technological terrorist crimes have become a growing concern. Therefore, within the framework of global documents to combat terrorist crimes, despite the description of numerous types of terrorist crimes in some critical infrastructures, unfortunately, the lack of a mandatory rule in combating such crimes has facilitated the possibility of terrorists committing them with due regard to technological developments and advances. Therefore, this article seeks to study how to ensure the security of critical infrastructures in combating technological terrorist crimes, and to assess their protection from threats and vulnerabilities.
